It just so happens as I went through some boxes containing treasures from the past, I came across my production of a morning meditation called “Glorious Dawn: The Opening Lotus of Love Morning Meditation”! I am so pleased to present the morning meditation to you on my YouTube channel along with a few other meditations I have created.
I have to say the quality of this meditation is better than the others. The production equipment used was much better. Never the less I think they are all effective and pretty enlightening!

White flour is a HUGE culprit for triggering inflammation in the body. If you struggle with arthritis or any inflammatory issue, white flour is the first thing that should be thrown out of your diet. Even if you do not have any condition that is inflammatory, white flour STILL will trigger an inflammatory response in the body.
A better option can be Ezekiel Bread, made of sprouts instead of processed flour of any kind. Since there is nothing that preserves the bread it has to be kept in the freezer. Just take out what you need, toast it, and put on some almond butter, vegan butter, or create a sandwich after it has thawed.
Just a heads up here. It won’t taste like processed bread! That’s because there is no added processed sugars to create a sugar imbalance in your body. Yes, it will taste different. After using it you will adjust to not having sugar in your bread!
If bread is supposed to be the staff of life, why put processed ingredients in it that will cause adverse issues in your body? Let your bread accentuate your life and not take away from it!

One area I struggle with a lot is my lower back. Not only do I have arthritis of the spine, but I have had to sit a lot during the day while finishing school and beyond. When lower back pain is more than I can bear, the last thing I need is a vigorous workout routine to fix it somehow. I have done all of the physical therapy exercises, and most of them remind me of yoga.
Contrary to what many might believe, yoga can be very challenging on some levels. Yet, there are yoga moves and stretches that are incredibly comforting and relaxing. Our bodies were meant to move. When they don’t move, we get stiff, and joints get painful. I have personally been determined to age gracefully, but more than this, to age with as much ease as possible.

Hypnotherapy or hypnosis is a fantastic tool to help change and overcome negative thoughts or reactions in life. While placed in a mild form of trance, an individual can receive desired suggestions from a skilled hypnotherapist to assist in weight loss, release pain or anxiety, help with depression, and even stop unwanted habits. One of the more profound changes that can be introduced through hypnosis is behavior modification or behavior changes. Behavioral change is a benefit of hypnosis supported and researched by the Mayo Clinic.
Since our lives and outcomes of situations are about our behavior, changing unwanted behavior and responses can completely change the quality of an individual’s life. Even relationships can be improved by behavioral modification through hypnotherapy.
During hypnotic analysis, a client is placed into a mild trance where responses to the leading questioning can help bring out reasons for distress or hidden heart wounds. Since we all tend to lead and live according to many of our heart wounds, bringing them to the surface to heal them can help tremendously in the process of discovery and recovery.
Hypnotic suggestion is just as it sounds to be. Hypnosis can be used to place an individual into a deeper trance state, and the therapist feeds suggestions to reprogram or reformat the subconscious mind. Changing the subconscious is an effective way to change lifelong poor habits and gain new, more productive habits! Some of the wonderful ways to make changes are to have the subconscious mind accept suggestions for more productivity, abundance, self-worth, self-confidence, or even get that old tendency toward eating the wrong things out of mind and out of sight!
One prevalent and sometimes controversial reason for hypnosis is for past life regression. Our past life can be considered what happened in the past during this lifetime. Those who adhere to reincarnation hypnotic regression can regress clients into former lives with amazing clarity. During a regression, an individual’s reasoning or conscious mind is bypassed while the hypnotherapist guides into the subconscious mind that has a recall of all that has been experienced before. Through this process, the higher self, or what some call the superconscious mind, is connected with, and discoveries can be made, recorded, and analyzed to help bring more insights into the present life lived.
Although past life regression is controversial to some people, it can help those who embrace the concept or are willing to be open-minded about it (pun intended)! Even seeking back into one’s forgotten childhood experiences can be overwhelmingly helpful as situations and experiences are brought forth to help bring healing and hope for new things on the horizon.

My first personal interest in yoga was when I was about 18 years old. I needed my yoga practice to offset my already busy work schedule. As I look back upon my life, I can not remember an illness as frustrating as COVID-19. I come from a generation who endured the mumps, measles, chickenpox and missed the old smallpox epidemic. The diseases of the past were irritating, except for some of the more life-threatening diseases.
I feel very blessed to have gone through a lot less than many people have endured regarding the illness department. I am so aware of those I cared for in the past who struggled with cancer forms or were dying from liver failure. When I reflect on those days of taking care of critically sick people, I feel doubly blessed not to have had endured them.
In my belief system, I feel everything in life is brought into our lives to teach us. My beliefs go beyond the old, “whatever does not kill us makes us stronger” mentality. To some degree, everything in life is a lesson, including becoming sick.
Before I continue to go off into left field, I want to stay true to my title and express what COVID-19 has taught me as an illness.
The little things in life are just as important as the more significant issues, whether blessings or difficulties.
Life is too short to complain about anything. We have chosen this ride on earth and can create in this life whatever we desire. If we are not happy with where we are, it is our fault. We can make life be as we envision we want it to be, so why not?
Love is always higher than anything, and it is our love that determines how much we have in our lives.
What we allow to stay will stay. If something is irritating, like a scratchy sweater, it is up to us to take it off and let it go.
Breath is important. No one should ever take a good breath of air for granted. If you smoke, STOP! You WILL get lung cancer or compromise your breath.
Don’t stress over the little things in life; they will pass just like everything else.
It is alright to stay in your jammies if you don’t feel well!
Leaving dishes in the sink is not a mortal sin. They will still be there later on when there is more energy to do them.
People in our lives have a particular purpose; they are not just placeholders. Find the purpose for every person and do your best to learn from that connection, love despite disagreement, and know you are blessed to have the honor of understanding them.
Difficult people are not only learning opportunities but are hurting human beings. Give them a break, especially when they are sick with COVID-19.
Aside from the evident appreciation for life, the comments mentioned above are not exhaustive in the least. When it comes to counting my blessings, I have far more than the stars, and they are uncountable. A little giving goes a long way. We all have things in life we have to process internally. We carry baggage. Some of us carry it over our shoulders, some in our hearts, and some are consumed in baggage without even awareness it exists. Burdens are not meant to be held but processed.
If you are dealing with COVID-19 illness, my heart and prayers go out to you; it is not a fun illness. Let God give you strength for the journey and a more healed heart for having been tried in the COVID-19 fire.
Everyone eventually becomes concerned about age and maintaining youth. We can tell how important this is to women just by going through the blogs and videos about how to keep young looking and vital in this world while getting older. I know men have their own concerns as well. I used to think ahead and wonder what I would be like as I aged. Now I know some of that equation. Sometimes I get asked what my secret is for me looking younger than my age. I think it is just plain old genetics. What I have been contemplating lately is what makes me young on the inside. The outer shell can become cracked and a bit wrinkled but the inner self is what keeps us young at heart.
What helps keep us feeling young?
One is movement. I have so many exercise programs that its laughable. I have them here, there, and just about anywhere they can be downloaded or kept. The strange thing is I have discovered just turning on music I love and just dance to it until I feel done. No timer. No plans. No kidding!
Another thing that creates a youthful feeling is nature. There is something about looking out at the world or being in nature that creates a feeling and desire for child like play. The rain is especially inspirational. I have memories of jumping in puddles and laughing out loud. Who says that can’t be done at any age?
Then there is cooking things that remind me of my childhood. I loved to make crepes, cakes, and chocolate chip cookies. Just thinking of the smell creates a feeling of youth and great memories!
I remember to gift myself. I see this in two ways. One is to give myself the gift of love, healing, and sometimes even material things. The other is to be a gift for others. Just writing things in this blog creates a feeling of youth and importance to me.
Loving to play with my cat creates youth in me. I have always loved animals. I believe they are given to us all for healing, emotional well being, and simple pleasure. Finding the pleasure created by animals is just an amazing youthful feeling.
I embrace what I see on the outside of me. This is the hardest part. We are bombed with images of what a woman should look like and there is no way any of us can keep up with those images. Comparison makes us feel older and less useful. Being who we truly are from the inside and out is what creates a feeling of purpose and youthful gain. Sometimes I look at the wrinkles that are working their way on my face and I think to myself, I have them because I have laughed, cried, and lived life. That is a good thing!
Staying young at heart is not hard. I love to create things to wear, purses of the past, and buy vintage things. They keep me feeling like I am living in my youthful past only in the present. It is drawing that experience forward and keeping those items sacred. They are a part of me and embracing them keeps me feel youthful.
I pray. I meditate. I sing (when no one is listening). I love. I am honest with myself. There is one person we can never hide things from and that is ourselves. I and God know the inner workings of my heart and soul. I am honest as I can be with what is going on inside. Those are the things that eventually show on the outside if not dealt with.
Smiling and laughing is a great way to stay youthful and happy. We create our own happiness. All of the muscles of our face determine how we feel. Try it. Smile and you can not be unhappy. It is impossible. Smiling creates a feeling of happiness and also youth.
About 11 years ago I found myself going through a lot of personal life transition. During that time I went into the caregiving industry, caring for seniors in their homes and helping them do things they could not do for themselves. I was shocked at how many pretty healthy seniors needed someone to help them up and down in order to get around the house. These were not people who had major surgeries or issues, they just did not have the strength to get up and down, or keep themselves steady as they walked through the house. Basically, I became their crutch.
I remember thinking to myself, I was not going to be like that! I am determined to walk on my own through my older age without help! Mobility is a gift in older age. Mobility helps us feel younger and more vibrant. I have come to appreciate this after a move from one city to another as of late. Unfortunately I ended up with a back muscle strain. It’s so hard when something hurts every time there is movement and there are things to be done!
Back in the 90’s I had already been introduced to exercise genius, Kathy Smith, by someone who was a friend of mine. She gave me my first Kathy Smith VHS video cassette tape to work out. I had been feeling a bit tired, and with five kids to take care of on my own it was hard to keep the energy up. I fell into bed every night exhausted and I knew I needed a change. I started working out with Kathy Smith and I loved it! It was so hard at first but I came to enjoy it so much! It always felt good when I was able to do more of the video than before. I realized, energy begets energy and motivation brings more motivation.
Today, I am working through Kathy Smith’s free 14 day exercise and diet challenge. (See link below). She supplies the great recipes, the online workouts, inspirational emails, and a Facebook group for support through the process. I am pleased that after just a few days of a new change in foods I eat, and completing my exercise each day, my back strain feels so much better. In fact, everything feels better! So far, I can even see my waist again! The main thing is feeling good. I’m no longer taking care of children in my home as my kids are grown now, but at this phase of my life I need even more energy to complete my life tasks. As I age, my overall health has become my biggest focus. I don’t need to look like a supermodel. To me, that is fake. I do want to feel my best and if I can feel 20 years younger at this point in life, why not go for it?
