What is True Freedom?

Today is July 4th, one of the most celebrated holidays in our United States. We celebrate the freedom we have earned through the sacrifice of those who came before us. July 4th got me thinking about freedom and what it truly is for any of us. As individuals freedom still comes at a price.

Freedom begins with the human heart. We are never truly free unless our hearts can be free to be who we are, do as we wish, and love as we desire. We are never free unless our decisions can be ours to make with no one telling us we can’t. Freedom is of the human mind when we make our decisions out of our desires and design our lives as we wish.

To fulfill our dreams is the greatest freedom of all. Life is never worth living without a dream and without hope, our dreams are available to us to come true. In our own homes, our freedom is to be as we are. Without this comfort and freedom, what is the use of even being?

Yes, freedom comes at a price. Freedom might cost us our hesitation to be the person we always desired to be. Freedom might cause us to make life changes that can be hard as we give up one form of living for another. Freedom might cost our people pleasing ways in exchange for pleasing ourselves. Freedom might cost us our comfort zone in exchange for reaching outward for the highest mountain to climb. When we get to the top, alone or with those who care about us, we can celebrate our newfound freedom. It might have taken some muscle to get there but the journey is always worth it!
