Choose Your Words and Actions Wisely

I’m not completely sure how owls got the identity of being “wise” ones. Somehow they became a symbol of wisdom. Neither here nor there today. This blog post is about “choice” and how our choices can affect us for years to come or even a lifetime.

Let’s all acknowledge first of all that NONE of us is perfect. Right? We all make huge mistakes or even minor mistakes. With that said, we do need to “guard our mouths and hearts” because there is a spring that comes out of them that can cause blessing or chaos. The Bible says, “Out of the mouth the heart speaks.” You can try to hide what your heart feels and believes but eventually when the pressure mounts, just like an untapped volcano the issues of the heart will come spilling out of the mouth before you can catch it all!

The lesson here? Simple. Check in with your heart daily and sometimes many times throughout the day. If you don’t you will offend others and even worse hurt their hearts. No one really wants to be the casualty of another’s inconsiderate verbal vomit. It’s true, that people have arguments and say things they don’t mean, but guarding our hearts is our own personal job. Tending to our own garden so to speak is something we are all responsible for. To add to this, once something is spoken it can not be “unsaid.” Words are even considered to be either blessings or curses. Do we really want to curse others?

By the way; when I write my blog posts it is NOT to tell you what to do or how to act. I spill out what comes to me and it is up to you whether you want to accept it or not. I let people be people. When I am personally hurt, I WILL tell you eventually that I am, otherwise do as you desire. It’s your life, your garden, and your choice. I suppose it’s the counselor and coach in me. Even more, it’s the receiving of spiritual and practical messages that will come through on my blog or even in a session. Sharing ideas is our right and our privilege. We don’t have to agree, but we should attempt to be kind.
