Love is often perceived as a fleeting emotion, something that can easily sweep us off our feet in moments of joy and connection. However, the truth is, love is much more profound than that; it is a conscious decision we make every day. When everything is going well, it’s easy to love. Those moments of laughter, agreement, and shared joy are like the gentle breeze on a warm day. But what happens when the winds of life shift? When disagreements arise and tensions build? It’s in these challenging moments that the true essence of love is put to the test. Inner spiritual and emotional maturity shines through when we choose to love even when it’s hard.
Choosing to love in difficult times requires us to dig deep within ourselves and cultivate resilience. It often takes practice to understand and empathize with others, especially during discord. It’s essential to remind ourselves that love transcends mere like or agreement. We can genuinely dislike someone’s actions or words yet still choose love for the person behind them. This higher form of love pushes us to see beyond the immediate circumstances and to appreciate the deeper connection we share with others. When we choose this path, we actively embody the light of God’s presence on Earth, as we reflect the divine love that flows within us.
But how do we practice this love when it feels so elusive, or when our emotions are running high? First, we can start by breathing. Taking a moment to center ourselves before responding in tension can shift the atmosphere significantly. Whether it’s choosing patience over irritation or understanding over judgment, these small choices incrementally build the strength of our love. Engaging in open dialogue and authentic communication helps to bridge the gaps that discord creates. Asking questions instead of making assertions can pave the way for deeper connection and mutual understanding.
Moreover, nurturing ourselves spiritually is crucial. Engaging in practices like prayer, meditation, or even simply reflecting on the divine love that we are part of can remind us of our purpose: to love. When we remember that we are born of divine love, we become more equipped to share that love with others, even when it’s challenging. Love isn’t just an emotion; it’s a powerful, conscious choice we can make daily. By committing to this higher path, we not only uplift ourselves but also contribute to the greater tapestry of love that weaves through our world. In choosing to love, especially when it’s harder, we are truly living as exemplars of God’s light.
Love is a choice my dear!
