The Value of Trustworthiness

As I sipped my coffee this morning, I pondered trustworthiness and its value. When you find a trustworthy person, keep them! Or you might strive to be one! In my book, there is no greater virtue than being someone others can trust in all situations. A trustworthy person never wavers in their integrity; if they do (we are all human), they apologize. Being trustworthy in all situations means being trustworthy in our personal lives, at work, in the community, and everywhere one might find oneself. The most powerful trust is through either friendship or romantic relationships, but trustworthiness is powerful everywhere.

When you are trustworthy, everything you say will connect with what you do. Your actions will match your words. Trustworthy individuals will keep your private issues private. I believe keeping someone’s private information is the greatest treasure ever. In fact, a trustworthy person is a treasure box that remains closed and locked for no one else to know as long as someone desires information to be kept confidential. There is a great responsibility to keep the privacy of others to ourselves.

Trustworthiness in the workplace or anywhere where one might carry responsibility is just as valuable. Being trustworthy in the community means a person is responsible in everything they do. It means to carry integrity as a banner. Someone with integrity can be trusted to hold positions of great honor no matter where they might be.

Trustworthy people carry wisdom and allow wisdom to flow like a river wherever they go. When an individual is someone others can trust, a spiritual overflow of trust comes through wisdom and spiritual knowledge. So many of us ask for spiritual insights and knowledge, but if we cannot be trusted with it, then we can not expect to receive it. Then there is also Universal Law that says, “You are not trustworthy, therefore what you will receive in life is more lack of trust from others and toward others.” Remember, the Universe will always give us back what we put out there, if not now it will catch up with us later. Our Universe was created to teach us not to be there to cater to every single whim.

Do people need to prove themselves? Yes! Trust is earned and not simply given. Trustworthiness is one virtue that must be proven over time. In the meantime, don’t expect others to trust you if you have violated their privacy or their trust. Even if you violated someone else’s trust in the past, believe me, you will need to show that you can be trusted before others will confide in you or gift you with the honor of their trust.

If you feel you have violated trust, meditate on being trustworthy and take the step today to walk in deep integrity. It won’t be long before the Universe will send others to you who will consider you to be an honored individual who is a treasure box for their most deep and confidential issues. You don’t have to be a counselor or minister to have this quality for others.

I have to add that trustworthiness means finding the good in others, even if there are things about them that you consider irritating. When you find what is good about them, you become someone they sense they can trust. They will also begin to find the good things within you and will offer their respect and honor. I want to add forgiveness for others who have violated your trust. When you forgive other’s mistakes, the forgiveness will be credited to your spiritual account. Forgiveness will be extended to you in kind. Don’t ever forget that our Universe gives us what we feed it, so feed it with trust, integrity, and forgiveness!
