It’s Completely Alright to Say “NO”!

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you felt internally pressured to do something you really did not desire to do? Yet, there you are, saying “yes” to something you are going to dread. If you truly desire to do things in your life that give your heart pleasure then why put yourself in a position where you will have regrets or feel less than happy performing a task you don’t desire to do? Or maybe you might accept something in your life that goes against your morals or values.

The bottom line is this: You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to. I do realize there are times when we all have to do some dreaded thing because it is our personal responsibility to do it. That is a bit different. By all means, do what you must but feel good about it at the end of the day even if you dreaded it. This is certainly not a post that gives you permission to shirk your responsibilities.

Imagine a situation where a friend asks you to do something for them they should be doing for themselves. Or imagine someone asking for a favor that will stretch you way too far and therefore would truly mess with your own balance. These are things you can, and should, say no to! Think of this; maybe someone else is meant to do that task and you doing it would take their pleasure away from doing it. Or maybe someone else would grow in life if they did it. You don’t have to reason that one out but the examples give you some personal internal leverage to say “no” without hesitation and without explanation. Sometimes the explanation has to be “I’m sorry, I can’t”.

Let your heart speak to you when faced with a task that does not belong to you. If your heart feels pressure inside or a sense of weight internally, you know you are not meant to do whatever is being asked of you. Steer your personal ship with discernment, please! Let your heart be your guide and if something “feels uncomfortable” and you know it does not belong to you to complete, then please say “NO”! Your heart will thank you!
