When someone awakens, they come to a realization or awareness about something more vast in life. This is not just merely opening one’s eyes to see but one’s heart to embrace, one’s mind to understand, and one’s spirit to embrace truth. The response to awakening to a new understanding concerning our existence, spiritual truths, and new concepts is like waking up on Christmas day and discovering a whole new type of gift waiting to be unveiled.
There is a child-like innocent joyfulness to begin to walk with a more open heart and embrace truths that once were in the dark but are now exposed to the mind. Once things are exposed, they can not be covered again. Even if an individual tries to turn a blind eye to them, they transcend the darkness within a person’s own spiritual sight. Once we understand something to be true, it can not be untrue again. Once we understand, we can not misunderstand. Once we see, we can not go back to being blind. The gravitational pull toward the honesty within the soul can never return to where it was.
Awakening is arising to embrace a more vast understanding of who we are, why we are here, and our divine purpose for being here. It is a transcendent pull toward serving humanity from simply serving one’s self. This comes from our capacity to see ourselves as one human existence with many pieces within the puzzle of life. We come to understand what Jesus spoke of when He asked the Father to make us One as He is One with His Creator.
It is a new birth into a new and more broadened lifestyle. Awakening sparks creativity, charity, love, and healing. There is no healing without transcending to new levels of understanding. We can not heal stuck in the same mud we have walked in for years. Healing takes movement, trust, allowance, and an open heart. When we awaken, we honor ourselves as a whole and are filled with possibilities instead of hindrances. Jesus spoke, “There is none so blind as those who will not see.” He spoke of spiritual blindness and a willful closing off of what is truth. His description is true blindness that causes sickness of the soul.
Our healing of ourselves and humanity depend upon awakening to who we are, why we are here, and our interconnectedness to all of what has been created for us to experience. Our lives and existence depend upon our acceptance of one another within our fold because we are One in the eyes of God. Therefore, we must become One in our own eyes to be a humanity filled with love and God’s light. Healing takes place through accepting what is and rejecting what once closed our hearts off to the reality that we are nothing without one another.
Be all you can be, and seek out an awakened heart and soul. Seek, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the spiritual door will be open with light that shines brightly into your heart and spiritual eyes.
Loving you from here,
Dr. Rev. Jenine Marie Howry, Ph.D.
