Are YOU an Empath? This is What it is Like

I want to start off by saying this is very daring for me. It’s like an empath coming out party! So many of us have heightened senses and yet are told there is something WRONG with us instead of seeing what is completely RIGHT with us!

Learning to sail our ship through life as an empath is not an easy journey but it is one that is worth it! If you have been thinking you might be an empath, maybe it is time to get real with what you feel, think, and sense? Maybe it is time to accept and love the person you are with all of your beautiful sensations?

You can use your empath responses in good ways to give yourself knowledge of situations, sense danger more accurately, and embrace that intuitive person you are! Don’t allow anyone to cause you to feel flawed because you feel and sense things more than others do! You are a gift to this age and I want you to feel cozy in your own skin!

Contrary to many beliefs, being an empath is not something to heal from, but a gift to embrace and use as an intuitive compass. I am sharing my experiences and feelings as an empath so others can understand what it is like to be born one! Believe me, it’s OK! YOU are ok! So, let’s discuss it. Finding others who are like you will help you to embrace the beauty of who you are and to stop allowing others in who are continually trying to change you! What you can do instead is learn self acceptance and how to determine when your feelings are due to others outside of you or due to your own.

Remember, make it a beautiful journey!

The Empath and the Overflow

Being an empath is a very delicate balance in life. It’s more than having empathy for others, its about actually feeling what they are feeling. We can’t help it. It just is something that is a part of our DNA. How it happens, I really don’t completely know. I just know it is a gift, but a hard one to keep balanced.

Empaths are highly sensitive people. It’s not a bad thing, it’s a good thing! It makes us sensitive to spiritual things, to the hurt others go through, and to the condition of the world. Personally, we are sensitive to just about everything. This can be medications, caffeine, weather changes, even things that “go bump in the night”. We are healers, explorers of truth, and those who teach and heal because we love it. It is our life’s breath. That is the good part of being an empath. This world needs us!

The hard part is we are also overstimulated by those who are overstimulating. We can even become tired and even adrenally fatigued if we are not careful. We are bombarded with an overflow of information in every single given day. Sometimes the only answer is to shut down and be alone for awhile. This does not mean forever, just for a time. We need a “time out”, from the overflow of continual communications, world events, noisy chatter and problems that often become more overwhelming than they need to be.

An empath’s compassion makes us a valuable asset but we can become exhausted from too much shot out at us at once. So, we need boundaries. When I take clients it’s great because our sessions are limited to one hour at a time. That’s a pretty good limit for just about anyone. Afterward there is a regeneration time. We can only give out of the overflow of what we have, or we are diminished to give anything. In order to have any overflow, we need rest, recovery, alone time, quiet, meditation, and spiritual time. It is a must have. If you have an empath in your life, understand this. If you are an empath, help others to understand this. It is actually important for survival.

Being Bruised

Lately, I have noticed bruises pop up on my body seemingly out of nowhere. It’s been happening for more than a month now. Even where my arm has felt trauma from injections for a recent biopsy, the bruising has been more than I usually would have. I thought maybe I’ve lacked a vitamin or something, but I take them every day and eat pretty well.

Today, I was spending my morning meditative time just listening to music and talking to God. Then suddenly, really without thinking why, I wrapped my arms around myself and gave myself a huge hug. I stayed that way for awhile because it felt so comforting and peaceful.

The thoughts came to me; those higher ones that seem to come bubbling up out of nowhere. I am bruised. My body is showing me bruising because my heart is bruised. I’m an empath, and I have taken other people’s bruising all of my life. It has never mattered if it was directed at me or not but a lot of the time it has been directed at me. People act out of their own bruises and soul pain. An empath will suck it in like a sponge. The energy and emotion has to go somewhere, so sensitive people and empath’s will retain it and become the walking bruised.

So today, I released it all, gently. Because that is how things should always be for me: gentle. It’s how God wants it; gentle. Some people are born awakened to God. Why that is, I have no idea, but we are. When that happens we see things differently from the beginning. We see and notice other people’s “stuff”. We see and feel their pain. We notice their struggle. We experience their joy higher. We know their lies, even the ones to themselves. We sense their inner soul pain, and we soak in their bad behavior toward us like arrows that have no other place to go.

We receive spiritual messages from literally everything and we have to share them because we feel like we would explode if we don’t. It’s meant to be that way, we are made that way. We are a walking message, already opened, and revealed no matter where we go. We seem to be solemn at times, quiet, and unassuming. We are soaking things in and processing. Then other times we are outrageously joy filled and we have felt like we just touched the soul of heaven. No, it’s not bipolar, its a difficult gift. It’s meant to warn, to direct, to be on guard, to ignite passion, to bring profound understanding, and to bridge the gap between God and humanity.

If this is you, rejoice! Your battle has been hard. You have been taxed more than any¬† one person ever should have. Life has seemed unfair because you have given more than you could ever imagine and yet you still take the sting from others stuff. It’s so you can point them the way to heal it. You feel there is no other choice, and there isn’t. You are one of life’s amazing gifts from God. You walk on earth, but it feels like the dirt is always murky thick mud because the struggle is real. Remember though, the lotus flower grows and blossoms in thick mud and it’s one of this earth’s most amazingly beautiful flowers. So are you!
