You Are a Cosmic Transparent Being

Even the shyest person is more transparent than they think. We pick up more about people than we realize. It is hard to conceal everything, although we often think we are. Our actions speak much louder than words. Also, we pick up on people’s subtle stories much more than we realize. We are transparent, just like clear tape. We think we hide the sticky parts, but honestly, we never hide a thing.

We are like radio waves that broadcast across the airway every moment. Those waves of energy have thought attached to them. Ever wonder how some people seem to be intuitive? Often, they are reading the cosmic waves that we all put out. Before you think this is way too strange to keep reading, think about it a bit more.

If we all emit energy from our bodies and we all attract energy toward us, then we also emit and attract all that goes with it, including thought. Thoughts create. They do this by sending out waves on a frequency that ends up attracting the same. In some cases, the frequencies attract a Karmic situation either to bless us or teach us.

I have said it before, and I will repeat it. Nothing is ever hidden. We send out our feelings and things we wish no one could know, out into the atmosphere daily. I giggle a bit when I think of the Bible verse, “Be sure your sin will find you out.”  Everything finds you out. In other words, things are revealed from you and to you.

I like the idea of knowing things that most believe we do not know. We can be distracted sometimes and miss things but if we fine tune our awareness there is not much that can be hidden either by us or from us. More than that, nothing is hidden from God, our Creator, the Universe, or any way you choose to think about it.

Sometimes if things are not revealed our life situations will reveal them. We attract these things toward us by our actions. On one side of the spectrum I think this is very cool. On another side it can be disturbing. I used to know people who found out things by tapping the phone, or someone’s computer. Silly people! Look at life around you, foster your awareness, meditate and pray. You will discover we all can tap into the divine that is within us all!

Stay True to Your Word: Put Away Hypocrisy

Not all of my messages are uplifting. I would like them to be, but most are teaching and usually what brings the hard lessons so a difficult life can be spared from you. It’s a dirty job. You know the rest, “someone has to do it”. The first lesson in the Bible is about hypocrisy; a lie.

One reason so many love they can count on God is the ability to trust.  It’s hard to trust people because of the human temptation to be hypocritical. Meaning, saying one thing and yet doing another. Some believe this is not lying, but it is. A hypocrite is a liar. Even worse those who are, lie to themselves, make excuses with themselves, and crush any trust they have attempted to gain with anyone.

Some, often rake up a real hard to swallow reputation by exposing their inner hypocrisy. It’s a difficult burn inside to find out from your so called “friend” that your reputation has lost it’s luster because of all of those who now know you have lied, been a hypocrite, and even worse lied to yourself by making excuses.

Grace is a wonderful thing. It gives forgiveness when we don’t deserve it. Yet, there comes a time when even God says there will be no forgiveness and the offender will be turned over to their own mistrusted heart. I have a huge pointer, or piece of advice for those who feel it has been hard to keep their word, have made excuses for all out lies, or think they can be a hypocrite and always be forgiven.

  1. Practice trusting YOURSELF- if you can maintain trust in yourself then you are most of the way there. This requires complete HONESTY as to why or how you feel you can be trusted. Would you trust your same actions from others? I’ve just given you your launching pad. So, my advice is to take it and launch.

I could go on and say trust God but I would rather tell you to seek God and emulate that character. It’s a hard lesson to learn but those who lie, are hypocritical, and omit facts by making excuses will attract the same to them in others and eventually repel those with a lot of inner integrity from them. I want to spare you this pain, so maybe you might want to go back to the beginning and read this again if you need to. Don’t be someone who repels the character of God.

“Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.”

You See In Others What YOU Choose to See: A Reflection of Your “Self”

Truth: Everyone, I mean, EVERYONE has good things about them and not so great things. We all struggle with the SAME condition. It’s called being HUMAN. If this were not true we could all pack up and just go home. Our mission would be done. But, our mission is not done. We are not perfect, and we are not ready for the purity of our spiritual home yet. As much as we would love to always walk in spiritual practice, see with spirit eyes, and love one another the same, it is not complete in us as of yet.

I am stating this truth because I have another point to make here. Since we are all flying on the same worldly aircraft here, we all struggle to get things right in our lives. We make mistakes. We are human beings. The odd thing about how we see people is we see them how we choose to see them. They are actually a reflection of ourselves. So for instance if Suzy is a great cook but horrible at sewing, don’t criticize her for her sewing flaw just because you are great at it. You might be a lousy cook! Do you get my point here?

If you look at someone and ONLY see their flaws it is YOUR flaw that is showing. That is why Jesus advised to take the log out of your own eye before you judge the speck in someone else’s. A person in our lives is a reflection of how or what WE choose to see. The other way around, if there is someone you look at and only see the good things about them, it’s a great thing! You are looking at them with love and positivity. But, be careful with this one too! You can get yourself in one hot mess not being honest about another person’s character.

Here is my advice. Be honest about YOUR character. How are YOU doing? Life in any respect is always a reflection of how you choose to see it and who you are from the inside out. If two people are looking out over a body of water at sunset, one might see the pollution in the water while the other might see the beauty of the sunlight reflecting off the water. One will think its ugly, the other will think its breathtaking! If you only see toxic water and not a glorious sunset with brilliant colors then maybe it’s YOU who needs to adjust your view.

Creating Daily Rituals

A ritual is formally defined as a spiritual or religious rite that is practiced and done regularly.  We also can create habits or actions that we do consistently and regularly, as if they are religious- like. I suppose we can say “we do them religiously.” Much of the time we describe a ritual as an act or action we do daily. This can be anywhere from our skin care to our work out routine. It’s probably a good idea to squeeze some of the spiritual ritual into our daily routine as well. A well rounded life has them all; the everyday actions that are mostly habits and the more divinely inspired moments that are more deeply rooted in who we are and our existence.

Daily rituals are needed for humans. Without them we are floating daily like a boat just drifting out to sea with no real direction. Rituals help give us direction, especially the deep spiritual ones. One of mine every morning is to grab my cup of coffee or tea and then sit back on the corner of my bed and close my eyes as I sip on my cup. This is my quiet time when I still my thinking, pray, ask for guidance, and tap into the spiritual “me”. I have found that the cup of coffee or tea is important because it signals to me this is the moment I am going to spiritually sink into my breathing, balance myself, and state my case with God. Whatever the moment brings for me, that is what it is. In other words I allow my ritual to unfold with no prior design or agenda.

I’ve often thought, and said, how we begin our morning is how our day will unfold. I like mine to begin with good thoughts, or dumping out difficult feelings,and replacing them with better more powerful ones. This morning ritual for me is my inspiration time. Often I will write my blog right after my morning moments. This did not happen automatically, I had to create it. I had already established my morning quiet moments with my coffee just to wake up and get ready for the day. It seemed simple to just add my spiritual moment with it. That way I know I will alway stick to it until it becomes a habit, and it has!

If you want to create sacred moments or just bring in some good habits for your life; think of things you already do and see what you can add to them. If you cook every day at 5pm, then consider adding some music and dancing while cooking. That brings in some exercise and some good mood enhancement. If you shop regularly, park way out in the back of the parking lot so you have to walk all the way to the front door and back. It might not seem like much but add a briskness to it and you have at least a couple minutes of even more exercise.

Or, if you procrastinate writing your book, think of when you are on your computer just checking social media. Cut some of that time and move over to your book and just write a few sentences or do some editing. It has been said it takes at least 21 days to establish a new habit. Keep on doing it and you will find your book will be written more often than social media time.

I need to read in order to write wisely on topics. I also love my reading time. I am so curious and love to read on certain topics that really interest me. It’s so easy to plop down into bed and just go to sleep or meditate myself to sleep. I have found if I go to bed earlier and pick up the book while I am still mostly awake then I establish a way to finish that book instead of allowing it to just sit on the nightstand.

I’m sure if you consider your day you can find things you regularly do that can be added to in order to enhance your life and establish a new habit. Whatever you do, consider when you can add your quiet inspired time when you can be spiritually silent and just allow thoughts to enter into your mind. Let this time be sacred; moments when you and God meet with body, mind and spirit to enhance your life.

There are enough moments in a day to get everything done that you need to do. Take out the things that no longer serve you and replace them with your needs, wants, and desires. If you need to drink more water, put a water bottle next to your bedside or place of spiritual inspiration. After your spiritual time drink water.

I think you get my point. Start by creating a list of all of the things you want to add to your daily life and habits. Then narrow that list down to just 3-5 and add one of them at a time. Group it with something you already do. It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you have a good strategy to get it all created!

What Defines You?

The question my title presents is much more important than you might think. We tend to become what our minds believe we are. Sometimes it feels like a true battlefield. Our minds might insist one thing when we want it to believe something else. Our belief is tested when someone accuses us of being something we don’t feel we are or don’t desire to be. This is when the question in my title becomes even more important.

What is it that defines you? Are you defined by what others think or say you are? Or, are you defined by old stories your head might be telling you that spring up from the past?Sometimes people can define themselves by what they were told they were from others long ago. The crazy thing is those times have long drifted into nothingness, and yet, sometimes we are still battling those words or thoughts. Sometimes they are blame or shame based statements toward us that we take on today.

The mind is the biggest battlefield we can ever try to overcome. Not only will it tell you things about yourself that are not true, but if you believe the thoughts, you will also react as if they are true. Old thoughts in error can guide you to assume things about other people that are not true as well. I always tell others to not assume things about someone’s thoughts. Always ask! It’s the only way to really truly find out. Even if you don’t want to know the answer. Truth is truth. We only should act out of what is true and not a false belief as to what is true.

This is why it is so important to reprogram your mind daily. It is a daily battle to conquer the false statements we believe about ourselves and others. Any time something comes to mind about yourself or someone else, ask first , ‘Is it true?” before you act. Otherwise you might act out of a lie or false belief. This can cause more hardship than you ever wanted to experience, or even worse, hurt someone or yourself needlessly.

Take the time to reprogram your mind daily. Use what you want to be true about yourself, life, and align your thoughts with those goals. Also, erase your false beliefs about others by starting each day as brand new. Take in these affirmations:

“I affirm that my life will go as I have determined in my mind it will be.

“I affirm that I will ask others about their thoughts before I assume.”

” I affirm that I will walk in peace with all beings, act in honesty with myself and others.”

“I affirm I will work through whatever I believe about others that makes me uncomfortable as to not harm them.”

“I affirm to work through the hard things so that peace and harmony can be my bannor and not chaos that I create for myself.:

You might think of some new ones for yourself! Bottom line, don’t assume you know. Also, change what you don’t want in life to what you do want by creating peaceful resolutions toward that goal.

“First do no harm.”

Have You Discovered the Power of Taking Holy Moments?

This morning I sat with my tea just waking up and taking in the new day. I closed my eyes for a moment and the first thing I noticed was all of the noise that usually goes unnoticed. The heater came on, a car went by outside, birds were chirping in the trees, and then the ding of a message coming in on my phone. Our lives and world is filled with noise every day. The only time we are really not consciously aware of it is when we sleep. I can’t explain it, with my eyes still closed, the world suddenly came alive with deeper sounds and things I never noticed before. I realized the heater also makes a howling noise when it is on, the house creaks, and I actually sense light even when my eyes are closed.

Taking a holy moment to just “be” is so revealing, especially when beginning to recognize personal thoughts, senses of the body, or setting intentions of how the day could unfold. I remember reading a book written by Marianne Williamson a long time ago and also her famous quote, “Sacred silence writes the universe.” I thought about the moment just prior to creation and how that silence might have been. What an amazing moment in a void space of time when God took a breath and began creating. It boggles my mind to even consider what a great mind God truly is. I think it goes beyond personal comprehension and is far greater than our human existence can even fathom. Then with great intention God creates.

It’s how our day should begin and how it could be if we design it that way; a holy moment with God and the intention to create the day whatever way we partner in creating it. Think about this, “Without intention our lives seem random as the day unfolds.” It does not have to be that way. Of course, things happen that we can not control but we can control how we respond to them. I wondered this morning, what it might be like to have a day that unfolds with sacred and intended responses.

“Today I will take a breath and intend to be patient when I am tempted to be impatient.”

“I will walk in acceptance that the only life I can have control over is my own.”

Intentions can be much more powerful than we even realize. Could it be because we are not listening or taking sacred silence? When we listen, answers are there for our questions and questions come up we never thought of. It almost feels like the world forgot how to breathe, ask, listen, observe, and intend. Have we forgotten about the holy moment God taught us to have when creation began? Maybe we are in too much of a hurry to take the time to actually do the work that creation and intention require? Not taking the time can be costly though. That leaves our lives and days to unfold in what seems like a random way. If the way we respond to what comes our way is not set with intention our responses are left to our ego self instead of the part of us that is connected to our creative creator.

Maybe this sounds way too deep to take in during a morning cup of tea, but it is important. Can you imagine if we all took a holy moment every day or even several times a day? We can intend to be more kind, respond with more wisdom, pause before we respond at all. Maybe we can be more conscious of what comes out of our mouths. Are our responses positive, necessary, or true? Taking a holy moment to set our intention for each day can help calm some of the emotion we deal with. Emotions are important but they can cause our lives to feel like we are riding in a sail boat being tossed around by an angry or uncontrollable sea. Jesus once calmed those angry and uncontrollable waves. I think it was King David who asked God to level the hills and valleys. Could he have been setting an intention with God to not react in such an emotional or uncontrolled way?

Life can be a “hills and valleys” kind of ride without taking holy moments to sit in sacred silence. If you have not, take that time now and take it every day when you wake. Yes, it requires you create a new habit if you don’t do this already. You will thank yourself and thank God if you do. Give it a try!

Are You Privately Living With Regrets?

Every time this year, when a new year is approaching, we tend to think about resolutions. Either we want to lose weight, make more money, spend less, or travel more. It can be just about anything. Sometimes they are the very same resolutions we made last year only to find we fell very short of accomplishing what our goals were or are.

As I pondered the upcoming New Year and what I really want it to look like, some very unexpected thoughts entered into me. It was like I took a time travel back to when I cared for those much older than I; most of them dying. I recalled working on my doctoral dissertation on dream interpretation as well. Part of the dissertation was dedicated to dreams and also desires by those who were sick and dying. I know this could sound like I am approaching a morbid subject but actually I’m not, so stick with me.

Thinking about both my experiences ,and also my research, I began to remember vividly some of the things that were expressed as people were getting ready to enter into their next phase of living outside of the body. I’m convinced our spirit is alive and never ever dies, just as God is alive. Whatever your thoughts on this is beside the point. Let me move on. As I closed my eyes, my thoughts were filled with statements of regret that I heard over and over again. Some of them in person, some I heard of, and some I studied. Most were all the same. I’m going to list some of them here:

  1. I wish I took better care of myself while I had the chance.
  2. I should have told her/him “I love you” but was either afraid or negligent.
  3. I never realized just how fast time would go and I should have taken more time for what is really important.
  4. The office should not have been my top priority.
  5. My spiritual/devotional life could have been better and stronger.
  6. I could have made the choice to be more kind in circumstances and now I can’t change the aftershock.
  7. I should have considered my choices just a little more before I made them. I might have made a different choice had I thought things through more.
  8. I wish I had spent more time with my family instead of being busy, I could have been busy with them.
  9. Why didn’t I say, “I am sorry”? It could have healed the issue but my pride was in the way.
  10. I never took the time to enjoy the beauty of this earth. My mind and actions were always on things that really don’t matter now.

Maybe you can think of some for yourself. Close your eyes and imagine for a moment that today is the last day of your life. What would you greatly regret if you were leaving this earth today? Now, remember, you have time today, tonight, and hopefully tomorrow. Who needs to know you love them? What are you sorry for but have never expressed it to someone? Where have you always wanted to go? Who is the most important person to you and have you neglected them? Who has been there for you every single time but you never seem to say, “Thank you”.

If you were leaving your body tonight, think about it, would you have some regrets? I have watched tears falling down the faces of elderly people and some younger, while stating, “I never saw the Grand Canyon.” “I should have taken better care of myself because I might have more time with my loved ones had I done that.” “I wish I had not caused _______ so much pain and never healed it with them.”

This upcoming New Year as you consider your resolutions, maybe also consider if you have been silently living with regrets. They tend to come to the surface when faced with our mortality. Let them come now, with tears, with healing, and then with action. Don’t live another day with what you might regret tomorrow. Live in love, but love yourself first by honoring what is right, what is honest, what is your heart’s desire, and what love speaks to your heart. Then thank yourself. You are worth it.

Living in the Present Mindful Moment

Quite a while back Dr Wayne Dyer came out with his book, “The Power of Now”. Dr. Dyer, (aka one of my favorite bald guys), is no longer with us, but his book lives on. The main idea is living every day in the moment that has presented itself. This does not mean to not plan for the future, it means to not project yourself into it. It does not mean not to look at the past, it means to only learn from it.

If anyone can master the power of living in the present moment, I kid you not, it is truly a gift. Living in the present moment takes away the temptation to project assumptions on people’s intentions or the outcomes of life. It takes away the stress of feeling like the future is hopeless. We are then given the opportunity to trust and allow life to unfold with ease instead of causing dis-ease.

Another benefit is more meaning to the life lived and the feeling that life is moving way too fast is slowed down. Life is more enjoyable this way. That is not to say bad things won’t happen. It means, no matter what happens we honor the present moment honestly and truthfully. It means there is no worry about outcome so we are serene and mindful about how we are going to act on what has been presented.

If the moment brings sadness, then we honor our experience by tears. God gave them to us for a reason. If the moment brings something precious, then it is even more precious because we have mindfully slowed down our processing and can enjoy it. One reason we focus on the breath during meditation is to stop our brains from racing out of control and giving honor to the power of just being alive. Have you ever tried to just close your eyes and concentrate on breathing for 5 minutes? If meditation is not your regular practice then you will find it is so hard to keep your mind from going every direction. It seems to race out of control with thoughts, ideas, and “stuff”. Suddenly those 5 minutes feel like a lifetime.

Remember the saying “A watched pot never boils?” It only feels that way because all concentration is on that one moment. It feels like it takes forever! Every moment lived mindfully in the present is just like that! It is like time is slowing down and things that are normally missed are now called to attention. Insights are sharper and intuition can come through easier. Appreciation for the beauty in life becomes a part of life. Living in every mindful moment is powerful because we discover what is normally missed or ignored.

When a woman is in labor, every painful contraction feels like it lasts an eternity. She is forced to be mindful and to live in that moment because labor pains are very hard to ignore! The result; the birth of a beautiful new baby boy or girl. That moment of joy is only highlighted by the mindful passing of the pain it took to get there. Life can be like that! Our joys are mindfully much more wonderful because honoring the painful parts make them so much more amazing.

Do you see how living in the present moment is a gift? In life there will always be shadows, but they only cause the light to look so much brighter! When we refuse to slow down and allow our minds and actions to race through life, we miss this! It does not mean we just sit and do nothing all of the time. It means our minds can be trained to live each moment like it is eternity while we are active or not. We pay attention to even the little things that normally are missed.

Take a moment to just close your eyes and let the breeze just feel good on your face. Pay attention to only the breeze and how good it feels. When thoughts start to race in your mind just let them go by bringing focus back on the breeze. In mindful meditation we focus only on the breath. Just think of it going in and then going out. When thoughts come we honor them, let them pass, and turn focus back on the breath. It’s hard at first but meditation in this way trains us to be able to slow our thoughts down and get more focus in life. Remember focus is important because we draw toward us what we focus on. In that moment there is a choice. Focus on the racing of your mind, or the beauty of the breath. Focus on the heat of the day or the relief of the gentle breeze. Focus on the painful parts of life or giving it honor and trusting for a solution.

It takes practice, but practice has its rewards. It’s almost like a miracle when a solution to a problem presents itself because we have taken the time to slow down and be mindful of the experience. Practice it daily and you will see how issues seem to almost solve themselves. When things are hard, be mindful that the lotus flower blossoms in deep thick mud. That’s how life will be for you. When the mud hits you, then you will have learned to only blossom!

Weekly Wisdom: “What You Resist Persists”

Keep this in mind as your week unfolds. That which you resist will become bigger and will continue. I know, I know! It does not seem fair. Yet, it is truth. For instance, if you continue to resist an emotional feeling that creates a lot of sadness within you, your focus will be on that feeling and you will get more of it. We tend to get what we focus on, so resisting is a form of focus upon that which we do not want. Ironically this is how we get more of it. UGH. It could become a never ending circle. So how do you get out of this?

Well, I am glad you are curious! I am too. This is why I love meditation so much. Meditation is not always about clearing one’s mind, but accepting and allowing thoughts to run through the mind and just act like the observer. In this type of mindful meditation we trust and allow the thoughts and feelings to just “be” with no response to them. If we respond, you got it, we get more of the same!

This principle works with EVERYTHING. I believe it was Carl Jung who originally came up with “what we resist persists”. He had a longer version but I think this says it all. So how do you deal with negative thoughts, emotions, ideas, and experiences? You walk through them, trust yourself, trust God, and allow them to come to you. You might find yourself acting upon some of what is occurring but as long as you do not resist or try to push it away, you can find your way to a resolution.

Sound confusing? It really isn’t. Try this. Close your eyes and just breathe. Focus on the breath for a moment and allow your thoughts to just come to you. Don’t resist anything negative, just observe it. If it brings a feeling of sadness, ask God at the moment how that sadness can be resolved within you. The answer will come. It might not come at that moment but it will come. Watch and see! Solutions and growth are what we are all about, not trying to avoid what we don’t want. Growth never comes from avoidance or resistance. Think of your negative experiences and thoughts as a boomerang that never ends unless you resolve to catch it and deal with it.

If you want to build physical muscle you use resistance. Remember this. A muscle gets stronger when you resist it and situations become bigger and stronger when you resist them. Good and bad. This is why unfulfilled attraction always seems the strongest; because we feel forced to resist it. If we let it go and just observe it then it loses its power to control our emotions. I believe many a marriage can be saved, and become stronger, by knowing this. The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence because we feel we must “resist temptation”. That resistance only makes us want more of what we should not have. It’s really quite controlling. Don’t allow yourself to be fooled and controlled! Overcoming this type of resistance only makes us stronger in our conviction to maintain fidelity.

This week, deal with something difficult in your life. Don’t avoid it, don’t resist it, deal with it. There is a solution to every issue in life. Seriously, there is.

If You Want a Better Life…

DECIDE! It is not the events in your life that control it. It is the decisions you make in your life that controls it. You might not think so but its truth. You can decide to let events cause you to decline or you can decide to allow difficult events cause you to rise above. It’s not always easy. We are programmed to be a certain way by the way we grew up until now. It takes PRACTICE and AWARENESS.

Practice feeding yourself the things that are good for you. We feed ourselves daily to sustain our bodies. When it comes to our bodies, garbage in, garbage out. Good stuff in then good stuff will come of it. It’s the same with feeding the mind. Garbage in, garbage out. Our lives reflect what we decide to put into it. Good stuff in then good stuff will be reflected on the outside. If you are in a grumpy bad mood or find yourself with a quick temper then it’s a sure sign you have been feeding your mind GARBAGE. You might not believe this at first. Test it. If you feast on things such as violent programming, negative content, hang around people who really don’t give two hoots about you. Your life will decline.

But, if you change that around and just DECIDE to only take in good things into your mind, your life will reflect what you take in. Again, you have to decide and then follow through. Don’t whine if you are not willing to do the work. You HAVE to do the work to make it work. Plain and simple.

Don’t be hard on yourself. Just keep trying. We all get down, depressed, upset, angry, and sad. Life is a challenge. We can also challenge ourselves just like someone who is working out their body. Challenge yourself for 4 weeks to only feed on positive things. When people get negative around you, walk away. I’m not saying turn your back on someone who is hurting. I am saying stay away from the nay saying and negativity. Be your own life coach. Feed your mind for a solid month with great programming! Your life will reflect it on the outside because you will begin to attract a more positive experience. Never fails. Just DECIDE and follow through.
